Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. spent more than $1 million in the first quarter lobbying on defense and transportation spending, according to a recent disclosure report.The company lobbied on the government's purchase of tires for military vehicles and aircraft. It also lobbied on legislation involving climate change, tax issues, manufacturers' ability to cover product recall costs, and federal appropriations for a redevelopment project in Akron, Ohio, where Goodyear is based. Brian Riley, a former legislative assistant to ex-Sen. Connie Mack and Transportation Department official, was among those registered to lobby for Goodyear in the first three months of the year, according to the disclosure report filed April 16 with the House clerk's office.
